At the Master's Feet

Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village.  And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house.  And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching.—Luke 10:38-39

Sit at the Master’s feet in prayer; it is the greatest theological college in this world.  He explains in a few seconds a truth that has taken years to understand.  Whatever I have learned has been learned only at his feet.  Not only learning, but life, I have found at his feet in prayer.  When I spent hours at his feet in prayer, then I found enlightenment, and God taught me so many things that I cannot express them even in my own language.—Sundar Singh

“Sitting at the Master’s feet” to talk to, listen to and adore Him will not happen “one of these days” by default, wishing, or good intentions.  It begins with a deliberate choice of the will to turn off the TV, shut down the computer, lay aside the magazine or possibly get up a little earlier; intentionally choosing to redeem our limited time for the primary purpose of intimately knowing Jesus better through reflective Bible reading, contemplative prayer and Spirit-led meditation.   Our part is to choose to “sit at His feet.”  His part is to teach us and reveal more of Himself to us.  I cannot do much about His part, but I do have a choice about mine.—Chip Kirk
